ph計電極與參比電解液(質)的反應
電解液與測量溶液之間發生化學反應可能是發生另一個問題的原因。生成的沉淀物將液絡部的微孔堵塞,從而使液絡部阻抗大幅提高。
在把 KCl 作為參比電解液時,下列離子會形成低溶解度的化合物,并且出現沉淀:

氯化銀有可能與溴化物、碘化物、氰化物,尤其是與硫化物和硫化合物(如胱氨酸與半胱氨酸)進一步發生反應。由于氯化銀造成的污染會導致液絡部變為黑色。液絡部造成的污染有可能產生不好的測量結果,其原因主要是:
?電極響應時間增加,或者
?擴散電位 (Ediff) 也被計入 pH 測量,直接導致測量誤差。
